phantasm
phantasm ii,
hantasm iii (havent watched iv yet)
critters
critters ii
donnie darko
dog soldiers (actually watched it to)
the descent (i like this better though)
starman (not really horror, but i was starman for halloween so i had to prepare)
hellraiser 2 hellbound
[im sure there were others but this is from memory]
I had heard good things about Dog Soldiers but I’m not quite sure why. Personally, I didn’t care for it. Perhaps I’ll give The Descent a shot.
Wow, Starman? That takes me back! I had forgotten that was a Carpenter flick.
What no Critters 3 with Leonardo DiCaprio?
The best thing about Phantasm II was James LeGros. I thought he was going to be a big star. Alas, no.
Can you believe I’ve never seen Donnie Darko?
On my list, I highly recommend (other than the obvious classics Night of the Living Dead, The Exorcist, and Texas Chainsaw) The Last Man on Earth, Let Sleeping Corpses Lie, Carnival of Souls, Let’s Scare Jessica to Death, and the Thing (both versions). Oh, and I enjoyed The Ruins. Worth a viewing.
Yeah, Dog Soldiers and The Descent were done by the same person. Haha. I just looked at the filming locations for The Descent on IMDB. And, in the movie, it is supposed to be East TN. But, it was filmed in the UK.
Yeah, Starman! :D I want that soundtrack. It sounds like M83 or Robin Guthrie and Harold Budd. My mom wouldn’t let me watch it when I was a kid. We rented it and she turned it off. HAHA.
I’ve seen Critters 3 and 4. Good (bad) stuff.
James LeGros? Which one is he.
Yeah, you should get on that. Watch both the Theatrical and the Director’s Cut.
I love The Thing. I haven’t seen the new version though. I’ll check them out. I wonder if there is a way on blogspot to get notification of replies. I don’t use blogspot much. I have to figure it out.
I had forgotten how great the remake for The Thing is. It’s also more faithful to the original story, Who Goes There? You can watch the film on Hulu for free: http://www.hulu.com/watch/40930/the-thing
James LeGros was in a ton of indie film from the 90’s. Films with him worth checking out: Drugstore Cowboy, My New Gun, Living In Oblivion, Floundering, and Safe. In Phantasm II he was Mike. And, according to IMdb, he was in two episodes of Punky Brewster. Also, if you are fan of Near Dark, LeGros plays the pool player at the bar who’s suppose to be Caleb’s first kill. I don’t recall him even having speaking lines though.
I don’t remember anything objectionable about Starman though Jeff Brides is naked in it at the beginning, right? I didn’t remember anything about the soundtrack but you can check out the songs on youtube. And yes, they do sound a lot like M83. And, wow, I have never heard anyone else mention Harold Budd. Have you heard his song “Breathless”. Amazing. Here is a link to it: http://www.epitonic.com/index.jsp?refer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.epitonic.com%2Fartists%2Fharoldbudd.html
