Tiger Knit

Apryl knitted me a nice, cozy hat. And the best thing, it’s Tiger ready! I wore it last night, and the Tigers defeated Houston by 10 points. So, “Hello good luck hat!”

Hayden should be thanking Summer for his hat. She’s the one who convinced me to take a knitting class with her a couple/few years ago. To those who know us well, it’s probably not surprising that she and I both knit so tightly that it took us an extra long time to make progress on our projects. I finished all but the handles of the purse that I made for class.

Then I tried around Christmas 2004 to knit Tiger-colored hats for Hayden and Stephanie. I made only one hat which would have fit no one larger than a 2-year-old. Last year, I made two hats—both of which, even after shrinking in the wash, a giant might have been able to wear—so I never sewed them up the back. A couple of nights ago, I decided to try again. I finally got the gauge pretty on target and knit something that an adult with a normal-sized head could wear. (Summer, can you actually believe that I finished a knitting project?!?) Next is a matching scarf, which should be a lot easier to complete. Maybe I’ll even make the handles for that purse and carry it this spring. Maybe.

    Is my hat coming soon?!

Apryl, you give me way too much credit here. If you remeber correctly I only went to two out of the six classes we signed up for.

I had blocked that part out of my memory. You convinced me to try it; usually I just talk about things instead of doing them. So your credit was due you. How’s that purse coming, by the way?

Steph, I’ll try to work on your hat this weekend. If I can keep up knitting the correct guage (who knows if that will happen?), maybe you’ll get it next week. Of course, you know what a procrastinator I am.
