I consider “8 Miles High” to be nearly indestructible. I have heard covers of this chestnut from all over the spectrum, but I’ve never heard one I didn’t like. Magnum Force…that’s a Dirty Harry movie, right? Sounds like a good time was had.

Dirty Harry, indeed.
And yes, a good time was had. I have seen Robyn Hitchcock once before. He opened up for Sebadoh and The Flaming Lips at the New Daisy. He did the show solo until the last two numbers when Sebadoh joined him onstage as his back up band. Those last songs were great but Robyn and guitar left me rather disappointed. One of those situations were your expecations are set just a bit too high. However, this time around I had no complaints other than that I would have loved to have heard some of his older solo material thrown into the mix. But I’m sure he gets tired of playing tunes that are 20+ old. The performance was recorded that night by one of the Chicago radio stations.
